Scott's Bio

Scott lived for some years of his childhood on 44 acres in rural Napa, and moved to Berkeley as a teen. His family started their own Waldorf/Montessouri-inspired school. He was the oldest students and thus the equivalent of a teacher's aid at times.

This type of school empowered him to develop a love of wholistic and integrated learning.

His philosophy of education is most closely related to Waldorf philosophy.

He studied a variety of subjects at UC Berkeley, double majoring in  History and Mathematical Economics.  He earned a Single Subject Clear Teaching Credential in History, Social Studies, Economics, Mathematics, and Introductory Literature and Composition.

He wrote a Field Study titled Developing Emotional Intelligence Through an Exploration of Process Themes, which involved a deep examination and expansion of the usual conception of Emotional Intelligence (EQ), Interdisciplinary Studies and wholistic education.

He has worked as either a teacher or consultant with various schools, including Bentley K-8, Bishop O'Dowd, Mt. Tam K-8, Notre Dame High School, Aurora Charter High School, Prospect Sierra K-8, and Oakland School for the Arts. He taught Communications and Critical Thinking at Western Career College.

Scott has taught almost every subject, including World History, U.S. History, European  History, Ancient History, Government, Economics, Communication, Film, Literature/Writing, Psychology, Science, Mathematics and various Arts.

He has facilitated many enrichment courses for youth and adults, including a teacher development, training in-service workshops. He has led hundreds of groups and effectively coached individuals, schools and other organizations using Fractal and related metaphors.

He enjoys travel very much and has been to Thailand, Costa Rica, Australia, made four trips to Europe, one trip to Russia, and six trips to New York City.

He was good enough at tennis to almost make the UC Berkeley tennis team, coached the Head Royce tennis team, and taught at the Claremont Tennis Club.
